We are seeking an Accounting Supervisor for Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach, opening in 2017.  The Accounting Supervisor will be responsible for financial functions, including accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations and tax audits. This person will create detailed financial reports and forecasts, and support the Director of Finance with additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Responsibilities

The Accounting Manager will report to the Director of Finance and ensure all necessary tasks as assigned are completed in a timely and accurate manner.  The Accounting Manager is responsible for assisting in the oversight, direction and administering of all financial operations of the property.  The Accounting Manager will be directly involved in the management and oversight of the Accounting Department staffing, training and development.  The Accounting Manager will also be directly involved in the monthly/quarterly/annual financial processing and reconciliation of necessary bank accounts and balance sheet accounts.  This position will be central to creating an exceptional climate of professional and personable service that ensures the engagement of employees, guests, owners and investors.

  • Oversee daily transactions, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, cash handling & general ledger and bank reconciliations
  • Support and monitor all Hard Rock SOP and LSOP guidelines
  • Participate in internal and external property audits to HRI standards
  • Participate in regular tax filings and ensure timely/accurate balancing to the general ledger
  • Prepare budgeting reports and forecast revenues
  • Participate in monthly/quarterly/annual inventories & oversee receipt of inventory tracking sheets from department managers
  • Participate in month-end and year-end closing
  • Perform necessary bank reconciliations and track/respond to credit card chargeback inquiries
  • Review invoices for accuracy and coding approvals
  • Review payroll submission reports related to the balancing of tips, gratuities and incentive payments and ensure accurate balancing to the general ledger
  • Monitor the daily performance of the accounting department and provide support where necessary within the accounting department
  • Lead monthly department meetings
  • Train, coach and counsel accounting staff to achieve their career goals and maximize their potential
  • Prepare necessary data for credit meetings and schedule monthly
  • Organize financial data into useable information and maintain updated records
  • Track the progress of financial and accounting objectives
  • Establish accounting policies and procedures, aligned with company’s targets
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements
  • Perform as backup payroll administrator and processor as necessary
  • Other financial and accounting related duties and responsibilities as indicated by Director of Finance 
  • Promote a positive work environment for all employees and ensure all employment related processed and documentation are in compliance
  • Engage with accounting staff to monitor and respond to guest inquiries as necessary and implement changes to prevent future issues

 

 

Qualifications

    • Proven work experience as an Accounting Manager within the hotel industry
    • Experience with accounting software
    • Strong computer skills, to include MS Word and Excel in particular (managing spreadsheets, creating charts and using advance formulas)
    • Prior experience using timekeeping and payroll processing systems (ADP preferred)
    • Solid knowledge of bookkeeping and USALI accounting principles, laws and regulations
    • Excellent analytical skills to manage large amounts of data
    • Ability to engage and train managers on necessary financial SOP & LSOP guidelines
    • Attention to detail and accuracy
    • Ability to prioritize work

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Ability to move throughout the business (standing, walking, kneeling, bending) for extended periods of time
    • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
    • Ability to make repeating movements of the arms, hand and wrists
    • Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and perceived sound by ear
    • Ability to obtain impressions through the eyes
    • Manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination and ability to work with hand above shoulders
    • Ability to occasionally move objects (lift, push, pull, balance, carry) up to 10 pounds/5 kilograms
