The Bartender is responsible for providing prompt and courteous service to all Bar Guests. This position is instrumental in creating an environment and executing service that blows our guests away. The Bartender must continually seek opportunities to create memories by anticipating needs, exceeding expectations and building relationships.
1 Have knowledge of food and beverage quality standards and presentation.
2 Have thorough working knowledge of Micros POS system – ordering, check presentation, payment processing.
3 Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons, and drunk driving.
4 Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic selections, glassware and garnishes in the restaurant.
5 Maintain complete knowledge of the particular characteristics and description of every wine by the glass and major wines on the wine list.
6 Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items (including daily specials), prices, preparation method/time, major ingredients, and quality standards of taste, appearance, texture, serving temperature, portion size, garnish, and method of presentation.
7 Know and use all table numbers and position points throughout the restaurant and lounge area.
8 Requisition supplies as needed from the Supervisor.
9 Organize and set up bar area -- ensure readiness prior to guest arrival.
10 Obtain assigned bank and ensure accuracy of contracted monies. Keep bank secure at all times.
11 Greet guests and suggest beverage order, utilizing up-selling techniques.
12 Relay daily specials with brief descriptions; answer all questions on menu selections accurately and offer suggestions.
13 Input orders into system and ensure transmission of orders is verified by kitchen when assigned to do so.
14 Total all charges, present guest checks according to procedure, and process checks according to payment, cash handling, credit card, and room charge policies and procedures.
15 Complete all closing reports in the P.O.S. system. Total all transactions according to departmental procedures. Report all tips.
16 Count bank and complete cashier report. Drop all money in safe and return bank. Submit completed paperwork to front desk.
17 Secure bar areas according to departmental procedure and return keys to their assigned location.
18 Maintain positive guest relations. Be familiar with all hotel services/features, and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
19 Handle guest complaints and ensure guest satisfaction.
20 Check and maintain adequate amounts of supplies, i.e., stir sticks, napkins, matches, etc., for both the immediate bar and extended service area.
21 Maintain the hotels standards of service etiquette.
22 Clean, organize and stock work stations
23 Clean spills, broken glass and debris promptly after incidents. Avoid cuts by protecting hands against direct contact with broken glass.
24 Always smile and offer a warm greeting to all.
1 Maintain effective communication with all staff provide recognition to others.
2 Participate in meetings with staff to learn about incentive programs, new products and procedures, special events, etc.
3 Ensure a healthy and safe work environment for co-workers and Guests.
4 Create a positive environment in which all employees have the ability to maximize their potential.
5 Listen to comments, criticisms, and feedback from Guests, employees and managers to gain an understanding of strength and opportunity to improve personal/hotel performance.
6 Work as a team, helping all employees to complete the required activities that ensure we blow away Guest expectations.
7 Participate in Sound Check meetings on each shift.
8 Maintain presence during peak traffic periods.
9 Communicate with other employees (including use of log books) to ensure that guest requests and issues are addressed as needed.
10 Present a professional image to employees, Guests, and clients of the hotel.
11 Give input for Guest history records to enhance personalized service for repeat Guests.
12 Know, understand, and practice (with energy and enthusiasm) the mission, values, mottos, culture and spirit that make Hard Rock Hotels unique.
13 Be available to provide Kick Ass Service and take initiative to offer assistance throughout the hotel.
14 Operate ethically to protect the image of Hard Rock and utilize programs designed to help Save the Planet.
15 Perform duties in accordance with company standards, policies, and guidelines, Federal and State Regulations.
16 Perform additional duties as requested by Bar Manager.
1 High school degree preferred and/or previous work experience in service.
2 Understanding of lifestyle hotel products and Guest services.
3 Perform numerical operations using basic counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying or dividing.
4 Use logic to define problem, collect information, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, interpret information and deal with abstract variables for unique or unfamiliar situations.
1 Comprehend and use basic language, either written or spoken, to communicate information and ideas.
2 Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
3 Multiple language abilities preferred, fluency in English required.
1 Ability to move throughout the hotel (standing, walking, kneeling, bending) for extended periods of time.
